Frequently Asked Questions

How are e-books read ?

Most e-books are stored in a format called Portable Document Format (PDF). This is an independent format which can be used on almost all modern home computer operating systems including all types of Windows, Linux and Macintosh. Adobe Acrobat Reader is required to read PDF files. Click here to download Adobe Acrobat Reader FREE if you do not have it.

Another commonly used format is the Executable format where the e-book is a program that is opened and read. This format can only be used on a Windows machine. Some e-books in this format are supplied as a reader application where the content is not stored on the users machine but is accessed over the Internet. This format is therefore only of any use on a computer connected to the Internet.

Some e-books are supplied in Microsoft Word format and, again, these are only accessible if the computer is a Windows AND if Microsoft Word is installed.

Most e-books are supplied within a .ZIP file which allows one or more e-books to be packaged together in a single file. Windows XP can read this file directly, although "WINZIP" can also be used. Click here to see information about WINZIP.

I supply e-books only in PDF format and contained in a .ZIP file because they can be read on all machines.
